The Group has always aimed to satisfy ; sustainably and equitably : staff, clients, shareholders, partners, suppliers and society, in an environmentally acceptable way . Fostered by this culture, sustainable development has become a priority for FM Logistic today. In order to structure this approach and align it with our 2022 strategy, FM Logistic has drawn up a sustainable development plan based on four pillars : social, societal, economic and environmental.
The management team is leading this approach, but the countries themselves are the cornerstones and the players. They are in charge of the quarterly indicators in order to fulfil commitments. Three of these indicators are monitored at Group level and presented to COMEX each quarter.

Developing partnerships to support local causes
With a strong commitment to sponsorship, FM Logistic implements local initiatives through cooperation agreements in the countries where it operates.
- In France, teams help the French Association for the Paralysed.
- In Spain, the Group transports pallets for the Food Bank charity.
- In Russia, collections of hygiene products and clothes are organised to help a centre for young offenders.
- In Brazil, FM teams are deeply involved with orphanages.
Developing projects that contribute to society
FM Logistic is committed to having a positive impact on its surrounding environment. In practice it does this through societal projects. It was in this context that the company launched a collective reflection initiative with a view to coming up with an “alternative” logistics' platform model.

FM Logistic considers it essential to contribute to a return to work for people in difficulty. Disabled employment is closely monitored in all FM countries.

The transport and logistics business carries risks : these risks have to be controlled to ensure the safety of our employees. FM Logistic is committed to this and implements initiatives focused on respecting regulations, raising employee awareness, the continuous improvement of corporate practices (by the periodical revision of objectives) and, above all, getting everyone involved.

After analysis of good health practices in each country, the Group's Human Resources Department set to work on standardizing staff health cover. This commitment contributes to the integration and well-being of staff as well as standardizing best practice and working conditions in the Group.

The logistics and transport sector is subject to numerous social and environmental pressures. The various players in the logistics chain have to work together to meet these challenges. FM Logistic is committed to doing this through :

Sponsoring skills acquisition in the logistics trade
Skills-based sponsorship involves periodically making employee volunteers freely available to an organization of general interest, with a cultural, social, environmental or humanitarian aim. It is an effective means of getting staff involved in societal projects, and the experience of working with an NGO gives more meaning to their day to day tasks.
Contributing to job creation and the local economy in each of our countries
As an international operator, FM Logistic is committed to the economic and social development of the territories where it operates. It promotes the purchase of local goods and services. It supports local suppliers through a global programme to enhance partnerships in each country.
Environmental pillar – Giving pride of place to environmental performance
Reducing the carbon footprint of our business
FM Logistic considers the global impact of its logistic activities to be important. Greenhouse gases are kept under control by:
- reducing CO2 from transport and warehouses,
- reducing energy consumption,
- implementing green services.
FM Logistic marked a new step in in its approach by going into partnership with “Green Freight Europe” and setting up CO2 monitoring in transport, in 2014.
Decreasing energy consumption
FM Logistic is making investments to optimize the energy consumption of its sites while maintaining operating comfort and standard of service. The company is assisted by Batilogistic (owner of company buildings) and NG Concept, its subsidiary and specialist in building design and construction. Being involved in a process of continuous improvement, it has developed an HQE environmental certification strategy for France, and LEED internationally.
Developing green services for our customers
Because the environment belongs to everyone, FM Logistic is committed to finding alternative, greener solutions. Combining transport flows, delivery route optimisation, inter-modal transport, cross-docking, clean urban deliveries etc. : all of these avenues are being explored in order to design new-generation services with integrated CO2 indicator.
FM Logistic bases its sustainable development approach on a three tier management system that is implemented across the company, countries and logistical sites where it operates. The company’s executive management has to draw the optimal standards for all. But each country and each site has the greatest autonomy to accommodate and to comply with local regulations and realities, as well as to satisfy local customers’ needs. From Brazil to China via the whole Europe, FM Logistic QHSE teams major actors of the QHSE policy whose objective is shared by all employees: operational excellence, customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, etc.

Certifications in our countries
FM Logistic's QHSE policy is based on regulatory compliance, risk prevention and continuous improvement. Its implementation principles are set out in rules and reference tools, and communicated to staff through training programmes.
The system used by FM Logistic respects the strictest standards in terms of hygiene, safety, traceability, the handling of dangerous materials and best practice per sector. Sites are certified when necessary, so that our customers can be assured that their products are handled according to standards, in a compliant environment, at every stage of the supply chain and in each country.
The FM Logistic management system is a cornerstone of its organisation. It is based on processes that guarantee the uniformity and safety of its organization by applying common and compulsory rules. The resulting best practices are then applied in each country, taking account of local factors.
Our environmental commitments
To reinforce the impact of its commitment to the environment, FM Logistic has integrated the following into its Sustainable Development programme:
- Legislation compliance, by following the legal, administrative and regulatory obligations applicable to our activities.
- Pollution prevention, through vigilance and adapted preventive methods across the whole Supply Chain.
- The use of the most environmentally-friendly, clean technologies, especially for the design of our buildings and replacement of our fleet of vehicles. FM France has replaced its fleet with « Euro 5 » vehicles (40 % less nitrogen oxides compared to « Euro 4 ») and trained its drivers in eco-driving. In Spain, FM Logistic uses trucks that run on liquid natural gas.
- Communication on our environmental policy to raise awareness and involve our staff in civic values.
- Continuous improvement to periodically review our objectives and targets in a coherent way in terms of our environmental commitments and the expectations of all involved.

Our safety commitments
FM strives for continuous improvement in terms of safety at work. In every country where we operate, risk prevention is ensured by:
- an occupational hazard assessment plan,
- monitoring and analysing accidents at work,
- keeping the work environment clean and tidy.
Staff take part in many awareness-raising, training and empowerment activities relating to safety at work.
In order to provide a safe working environment for staff, FM Logistic recently launched the “Safety First Attitude” project. This approach, intended for all, consists in sharing experiences by collecting best practices across the sites. The impact of this approach is being monitored via the LTIFR (Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate) indicator.
It also guarantees the safety of handled products. An HACCP study is carried out for each customer. The objective is to identify any elements that could make foodstuffs unfit for consumption and eliminate them.
